A Kochi-Muziris Biennale show today gave a chance to patients at Ernakulam General Hospital here to listen to a vintage film number --a Malayalam melody.
Originally cut by the celebrated K J Yesudas, the score from the 1975 movie 'Kottaram Vilkanundu' was delivered here by playback singer and music director Bimal Pankaj during an hour-long concert.
Talented singer Aleena Xavier shared the dias with him.
The song "Chandrakalabham charthi urangum theeram" penned by noted poet and lyricist late Vayalar Rama Varma saw the young vocalist crooning the lines soulfully.
The lyrics tuned by iconic G Devarajan had the first stanza ending with a wistful reference to another birth: "Iniyoru janmam koodi?"
As the four-minute ditty concluded, there was loud applause from the gathering.

The concert marked the weekly 54th edition of 'Arts and Medicine' programme being organized by Kochi Biennale Foundation in association with Mehboob Memorial Orchestra every Wednesday at the hospital premises.
"It is a blessing to sing in a venue like this," said Bimal, who, along with Aleena coming from a rich musical heritage, sang a dozen Malayalam melodies that captured the imagination of the motley audience.
"I am honoured to sing for the people and patients gathered here," he said.
