Election for the post of Ghaziabad mayor has been deferred to February 14 by the Uttar Pradesh State Election Commission (SEC) to ensure maximum participation of voters.
This is the second time the election is being postponed.
District Election Officer (DEO) Vimal Kumar Sharma said the polling has been scheduled for a Sunday so that those in service can exercise their franchise.
"An amended notification was released yesterday by the office of UP State Election Commissioner S K Aggarwal further rescheduling the poll date to February 14," he said.
The counting date has also been changed from February 11 to February 16, the DEO added.
