A Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Assistant Engineer (AE) was nabbed today by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) when he was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000.
Notably, the AE, identified as V Kuppa Naik, was trapped in a similar bribery case in 2013 as well.
"The assistant engineer was caught at Santhoshnagar while he was accepting the bribe of Rs 30,000 from the complainant, a contractor, for extending an official favour," the ACB said in a release.
The officer is being arrested and the case is under investigation, it said.
The agency stated that Naik was nabbed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 35,000 on January 8, 2013 from another complainant, for recording the work executed by a contractor.
Subsequently, he was booked for allegedly possessing disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs 1.57 crore on February 25, 2013.
"In both the cases (the 2013 cases of bribery and DA), chargesheets were filed and they are pending trial before the ACB court here," it said.
