Ghosh fifty takes Tripura to 127/6 on Day 1

Opener Bishal Ghosh struck an unbeaten fifty to help Tripura end the opening day on 127 for six against Kerala in the Group C Ranji Trophy cricket match, here today.
Put into bat in the four-day encounter at the Maharaja Bir Bikram College Stadium, openers Ghosh (59 not out) and Udiyan Bose (29) struck a 46-run opening but new-ball bowler Nizar Niyas (3-25) struck back to rattle the middle order.
The Rajesh Banik-led side slipped from 80 for two to 121 for six as pace spearhead Sandeep Warrier, medium-pacer MD Nidheesh and left-arm spinner Karaparambil Monish picked up a awicket each.
In the end only 63 overs were possible in the day as Ghosh kept the fight on with Rana Dutta (1) for company.
