In a match dubbed as the unofficial final of the men's singles championship, young Soumyajit Ghosh produced some exceptional play to get the better of fancied Sharath Kamal in the last four stage of the 34th PSPB Inter Unit Table Tennis Tournament here today.
Ghosh, representing BPCL, won 11-9 11-8 10-12 10-12 11-8 12-10 to advance to the final to be held at the Jamia Milia Islamia Sports Complex tomorrow and will take on veteran Soumyadeep Roy (IOCL).
Ghosh used the front of the table effectively to gain several service points and his quality of retrieving helped blunt some of Sharath's power hitting. Sharath had beaten Ghosh in the preceding team event.
