Chloe left the money in the jar with a note which read "Dear Donut Man, my mom showed me the video of your money getting stolen. I'm sorry that happened. This is my tooth fairy money. Sorry that happened."
A video was circulating on Facebook showed that a woman in line reaching across the counter and taking a handful of cash from the tip jar.
Daylight Donuts owner Andy Chhong shared the security video, after which he found something unexpected in the tip jar: a handwritten note with USD 4 inside, WABC-TV reported.
"She felt bad about what happened," Chhong said, "and it's just so amazing."
He plans on giving Chloe free doughnuts for life, as long as he remains the owner of the store, Chhong said, adding "She's such an amazing kid. People need to, like, follow this kind of attitude.
