The Bombay High Court today granted the CBI time till May 2 to conduct polygraph tests on some witnesses in its probe into the mysterious death of a Mumbai girl while partying with her friends in Pune in 2012.
In September 2014, the high court had on a plea by Nagina, the mother of 19-year-old victim Sanam Hasan, transferred the probe to CBI after observing that there were several discrepancies in the investigations, first by the local police and then by the state CID.
Nagina had alleged that the state CID, which took over the probe in November 2012, was doing a shoddy job.
The CBI today told a division bench of justices R V More and V L Achiliya that it needs three weeks time to submit its status report as it was going to conduct polygraph tests on some of the witnesses in the case.
The court accepted this and posted the petition for hearing on May 2.
Sanam was a student of Pune's Symbiosis Institute of Design. On October 3, 2012, a birthday party was organised for her by her friends at a flat in Pune's Vadgaon Sheri. The next morning, her parents were called to a hospital where she was declared dead.
The Sassoon Hospital chemical analysis report revealed that Sanam died due to an ischemic heart disease and alcohol consumption.
But, her parents contested this saying she was an active football player.
