Girls outshine boys in JK Class XII exams

Girls today outperformed boys in the Class XII exams conducted by Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education (SBOSE) as they bagged top position in all the three streams and also clinched 69 places in the top 100.
The total pass percentage of students who appeared in the Class 12 exam was 49.
A total of 42,234 students took the examinations of whom 20,849 passed.
"Out of a total 100 positions, girls secured 69, while boys claimed the remaining 31 in Science, Arts, Commerce and Home Science streams," a senior official said, adding that government schools also made their presence felt by securing 29 positions.
In Science stream, the top position was shared by two girls scoring 97.8 per cent. Muskan Bhan of St Xavier Convent Higher Secondary School, Barnai (Jammu) and Vijay Lakshmi of Brahmrishi Bawra Shanti Vidya Peeth, Udhampur scored 489 out of 500 marks.
In Arts, the first position was bagged by Chetna of Shiksha Niketan Higher Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar (Jammu) by securing 477 marks (95.4 per cent).

Palak Gupta of Shiksha Niketan Higher Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar secured the first position in Commerce stream by securing 484 marks (96.8 per cent).
In Science stream, 42 girls were in the merit list while 26 boys claimed position.
In Arts stream, the top 10 positions were secured by the girls whereas in Commerce stream, 9 girls and 2 boys secured positions.
Second position in Science stream was claimed by Prabh Simran Kour of Christ Higher Secondary School, Poonch by securing 486 marks out of 500 (97.2 per cent) and third position was bagged by Ayushman Bandral (Vijay Higher Secondary School, Udhampur) with 97 per cent marks.
While the second position in Arts was secured by Syed Aisha Mushtaq by securing 95.2 per cent marks, the third position has been secured by Shriya Aggarwal (Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Mubarak Mandi) by bagging 474 marks.
In Commerce stream, the second position was bagged by Damandeep Singh of Mother India Higher Secondary School, RS Pura by securing 96.4 per cent, Shivani Verma of Oriental Academy Afghan Mohalla secured third position by scoring 479 marks.
