"We express concern over ignoring residents of Chenab Valley in providing jobs in the hydro-electric projects to be started in this region. Neglecting this region would prove counter productive for the authorities concerned," PDP leader and MLC Sayeed Asgar Ali said addressing a gathering in Kishtwar district.

He said corporate office of the Chenab Valley Project Corporation Limited (CVPCL) was not opened in Chenab Valley despite the fact that it has to conduct its operation in this region.

He demanded that the Corporation open its office in Chenab Valley and Kishtwar areas.

Ali, who has been agitating for the cause of residents of Chenab Valley, said locals have first right on the water and demanded free electricity for people of the erstwhile Doda district.

He said local youth should be trained so that they can be recruited in these projects as skilled labourers.

Addressing a series of public meetings in Basholi Assembly segment in Kathua district, PDP general secretary Thakur Balbir Singh today said most parts of this belt were confronting scarcity of drinking water but authorities were not serious to solve their problem.

He alleged failure of the authorities to implement PMGSY programmes in backward areas of this district.
