Greater Kailash II resident moved the Delhi High Court opposing the government's permission to reopen Savitri Cinema saying the movie hall does not have the parking facility and the cinegoers are sure to park their vehicles by roadsides, causing perpetual traffic jams in the area.

In their petition, filed before a division bench of Acting Chief Justice A K Sikri and Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw, the Greater Kasilash Resident Welfare Association made a fervent plea to the court against reopening of the hall.

The residents' petition said the traffic police has issued no objection certificate (NOC) without verifying the fact that the new developer of the movie hall has sold the parking lot to shops and offices in the complex.

"With the Savitri intersection being the main entry point for most south-bound traffic and the T-junction of GK-II, already being heavily congested during the peak hours, the extra traffic headed for the Savitri complex once the hall is opened would mean long jams throughout the day," the petition said.
