Kareena, 34, will be playing a doctor in the movie, also starring Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.
"It is very gritty, very real and the whole space is very dark. It is very exciting. I have done this kind of movies and getting back to that atmosphere is great. 'Udta's world is totally different," Kareena told PTI.
"He is one of my dearest friends. We have known each other for many years now. He just pulls my leg all the time on the sets and troubles me. Kareena has no qualms about starring alongside younger stars- be it "Ki and Ka" with Arjun, Dosanjh in "Udta Punjab" and earlier "Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu" and "Gori Tere Pyaar Mein" opposite Imran Khan.
