Some of the transit passengers who had arrived from London at Terminal 3 of the airport at 4 AM had to wait for 15 hours before boarding the flight at around 7.30 PM, airport sources said.
There were around 200 passengers, including children and disabled, set to fly at 2:30 PM, the sources said.
As the time for boarding neared, passengers were told that the flight was delayed, they said.
Confirming the incident, an airlines spokesperson said the flight was delayed due to some "technical reason" but refused to elaborate.
The passengers, some of whom were in transit and had arrived from London this morning, had no clue when the flight would take off.
Passengers alleged that no Air India official was ready to provide any information about when the flight would take off.
According to sources, the problem was with the plane's generator and it had occurred earlier also when the aircraft was operating in other sectors.
