A unique concert, a bouquet with different genres of contemporary and classical music, will be held in Zeneva in September to bring a smile on the face of the some 4 million people in rural Bengal.
"Besides modern-age classicists from Bengal, prominent rockstars-band members, Rabindra Sangeet exponents will be part of the initiative which is expected to take place by the end of September at the initiative of 'Calcutta Rescue', " world band 'Fingerprints' frontman and Calcutta Rescue brand ammbassador India-born Rishabh Dhar told PTI here today.
"It can be an ecletic mix with some of the very talented from world music domain. Names like Andro Biswani, guitarist, Klaus Falshlunger, bass player, flautist like John," Dhar, who yesterday took part in a musical soiree with young vocalist Sounak Chatterjee, reasoned.
The initiative will be broad-based with similar concerts held in Sydney and Amsterdam, aimed at both Indian expatriates and the foreigners who have a discerning ear for Indian music, especially representing the classical trail, blazed by late Ravi Shankar and now propagated by the likes of Tanmoy Bose and others.
"Our aim is two-fold. To showcase our different brands of music to the aficionados abroad and to raise funds to sustain the work for the most socially and economically disadvantaged in our own state - not less than 4 million living below poverty line.
"Calcutta Rescue had also worked towards the cause of the 2.5 million living on streets in the metro for past three decades but we are now exploring the social networks to string the inclined and not-so-inclined to campaign for the cause," Rishab said.
"I will be always be part of their musical concerts whenever possible. Yes I heard about the Zeneva effort," Shounak said when asked.
Well-known city-based percussionist Manojit 'Kochu' Dytta was also actively associated with the initiative.
