The amount has been due since last one-and-a-half-year and the company has failed to make the pay to the Central Industrial Security Force despite repeated reminders, official sources said.
The CISF has approached the Ministry of Home Affairs which has been trying to mediate between the force and the GMR group for an amicable settlement to the dispute, the sources said.
The CISF deploys around 4,500 personnel to guard the airport and its terminals where they carry out security check of every passenger.
The dues are mostly on account of higher deployment of security personnel, which have increased manifold over the years, and also implementation of 7th Pay Commission recommendations which apply to the CISF, the sources said.
The CISF guards 59 airports in the country operated by Airport Authority of India and a few private companies.
The paramilitary force gets around Rs 900 crore from the operators for providing security to the airports.
