The GNLF would not entertain GJM's request as party chief Subash Ghising believed that formation of separate Gorkhaland state was not possible at the present juncture, GNLF spokesperson Daya Dewan said.
Mani Gurung, a close aide of Ghisingh, alleged that the GJM's demand for Gorkhaland was only a "way to fill their pockets and a mean to win the sentiment of the people for votes."
Ghising, once an unchallenged leader in Darjeeling who championed the cause of Gorkhaland in the mid 1980s before putting it on the back burner, is now in favour of 6th Schedule status for the hills.
He was forced out of the hills by his one time trusted lieutenant Bimal Gurung, the GJM supremo, in 2008.
Ghising returned to Darjeeling hills on March 19, after a gap of six years, and claimed that several political parties including Trinamool Congress and CPI(M) had asked for his support to counter BJP candidate S S Alhuwalia who is being supported by the GJM.
