Official sources said that the Department of Audio Visual Publicity which falls under the I&B ministry had got the two versions of the campaign messages produced - one in hindi and on in english. Officials said that the campaign will run simultaneously from Friday to Sunday.

The punchline of the campaign is 'Go Digital or go blank', sources said. The Information and Broadcasting ministry has set up a October 31st deadline for complete digitalisation of cable services in the four metro cities of Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai.

The installation of Set Top Boxes or STBs is a major pre-requisite for this drive and the campaign has been designed to convince the consumers to acquire them without delay.

"The government is very serious about meeting the deadline for the Digitalisation for the four metros and this awareness campaign wants to send this message across," a well placed source said.

Officials said that reviews of the situation had been pointing to the fact that substantial progress had been made in installation of STBs and the number of cable households may also be a bit lesser than previously estimated.
