"Domestic and foreign tourists are arriving in Goa during the monsoons to make the most of the rain-drenched beaches and other natural beauties in the state," Ajgaonkar said while addressing the valedictory session of Travel and Tourism Fair organised here.
He said adventure tourism is slowly becoming a big draw with water rafting and other water sports being initiated at different beaches in the state.
"Beaches are being made more tourist-friendly with toilets and changing rooms in proximity," he said.
At least 400 travel and tour operators participated in the three-day event held at the Netaji Indoor Stadium here, which recorded more than 50,000 footfalls during the period, Sanjiv Agarwal of organisers Fairfest Media Limited, said.
Twelve countries, including Sri Lanka, Thailand, Bangladesh and Nepal participated in the fair, which also saw eight states of the country promoting their destinations, he said.
