In response, Pankaj Rao and Kant Singh shared five wickets between them as Chhattisgarh bounced back to leave Goa on 127 for 6, trailing by 71 runs at close.
Resuming on 103 for 2 with Amandeep Khare on 58, Chhattisgarh got the breakthrough in the second over of the day when Singh cleaned up the batsman for an addition of just two runs to his overnight total.
Ashutosh and Mohammad Kaif (14) looked to build a partnership before Singh trapped Chhattisgarh skipper LBW to end the partnership for 37 and their end was hastened after he had wickets of Pratik Sinha and Kant Singh off successive deliveries.
In reply, Goa failed to get a partnership going with Chhattisgarh bowlers getting regular breakthroughs.
