The party also claimed that the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science & Technology, Environment & Forests observed that IPB was taking "illegal steps".
"During the meeting ofParliamentary Standing Committee on Science & Technology, Environment & Forest, headed by Rajya Sabha MP AshwaniKumar, the committee emphasised that the IPB is a violation of Article 14, the Right to Equality before Law," a release from Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) said today.
Congress alleged that the investment promotion areas create "lawless" conditions within Goa where state laws such as land revenue code ceases to exist.
"We cannot allow the government to selectively apply or revoke state laws at their whims and fancies. This is a fact that has been echoed by Goans across the state but has fallen into deaf ears," GPCC added.
"Any Congress-led government will revoke this draconian Act (related to IPB). Thus any industry which wants to avoid future road blocks should avoid the IPB and follow the traditional route adopted by other industries operating in Goa," the release added.
