While police have registered a case against four people for assaulting a senior official of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) at Arambol beach in Goa, a counter-complaint against the official for assaulting a shack worker was lodged today.
Superintendent Jitender Ranjan of NCB fired a round in air yesterday after he was attacked by a mob at a shack at Arambol beach where he had gone with a police team to question a suspect in a drug-related case.
Pernem police, who registered a case against four people including the shack owner for 'assaulting a government servant on duty', have received a counter-complaint.
"The complaint accuses Ranjan of barging into the shack and assaulting a worker without revealing his own identity and snatching away the worker's mobile phone," a senior police official said today.
No case was registered against the NCB officer as veracity of the complaint was yet to be checked, he said.
The shack owner was being questioned in the matter, the officer added.
