Over 2,500 women are expected to take part in 'Goa Going Pink 2017', a marathon aimed at spreading awareness about breast cancer, to be held here on May 28.
Various NGOs working in the field of women fitness and breast cancer awareness have organised the run in the city which is expected to see participation from over 2,500 runners, all women, the organisers said.
"Goa Going Pink is a model run organised under the aegis of Pinkathon. The objective of the event is to encourage women's health and fitness.
"It also aims at raising awareness about breast cancer, its causes and prevention," supermodel Milind Soman, who is promoting the marathon, told reporters yesterday.
"Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of death among women worldwide though it can be cured if detected early. The key to controlling the disease, therefore, is to create awareness," the 51-year-old actor-model said.
The marathon will be held in three categories - 3km, 5km and 10km, the organisers stated.
