The Lokayukta will be a retired judge and high court might be requested to recommend names for the post, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said today.

The Goa Lokayukta Bill 2011 is awaiting president's assent and the government has been taking a day-to-day follow-up of the same, he said, adding the bill is currently pending with union home minister.

About the mandate of Lokayukta, Parrikar said the anti-corruption ombudsman will look into the political and other sensitive cases, including those related to illegal mining and concerning scam in allotment of plots for industries.

He further said that the state was carrying out due diligence in picking commissioner in the state information commission.

"For the first time, the post of information commissioner has been advertised through newspapers," Parrikar added. PTI RPS NSK
