Goa govt to sign MoU with Centre to provide cochlear implants
Press Trust of India Panaji The Goa government will sign an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Centre to provide cochlear implants to children suffering from hearing disability, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said.
"I have been told, that the success rate of this surgery is maximum for children below five-years of age. A special rate has been given to the government through the MoU where initially 20-25 children will be operated free of cost," Rane told reporters today.
He said "Subsequently, the state is also planning to come out with its own scheme where we will be in a better position to treat more children."
The minister said "we will try our best to provide these cochlear implants so that the little babies and children can hear better.
