Goa has sufficient water stock to sail through summer: Min

Goa government has said that the State has sufficient water stock in its dams to sail through the summer season.
"Goa has enough stock to tackle the water shortage problem during the summer. Water resources department is constantly monitoring the levels in the dams and there is no reason for any concern," Water Resources department minister Vinod Palyekar told reporters here after chairing the meeting of officials.
He said that the water in Salaulim dam in South Goa is almost 34.56 metres which is sufficient for almost 300 days for the area serviced by the project.
"Anjunem water level stands at 81 metres which is sufficient for 90 days. Amthane dam level is 47.28 metres which is sufficient to provide water for almost 300 days," he said.
"Water level in other dams including Panchawadi is almost 22.41 m which is sufficient for 150 days. Chapoli has 32.68 m water which is sufficient for 525 days," the minister said.
Palyekar said Water Resource department is all set to tackle the problem of water shortage if at all it arises during the summer season.
Palyekar said he had a detailed discussions with all the officers regarding their works and projects.
