After following the 'Mumbai police manual' for decades, the Goa government has started a process to draft its own document for its force.
The 'Goa police manual' is expected to be ready in four months.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar told reporters today that former superintendent of police Om Prakash Kurtarkar has been given the task of drafting the police manual for the state.
He said the state cabinet has granted its approval to the appointment of Kurtarkar to draft the crucial document, which will act as a guide for the Goa police.
"We have given a time of four months to Kurtarkar to draft this manual. The Goa police have been following the Mumbai police manual since its inception," he said.
The Goa police came into existence after liberation of the state from Portuguese rule in 1963.
