The 15-seater vessel having a top speed of 25 knots will be commissioned to patrol Panaji port area.
Finalisation of technical specifications is in progress, the Captain of Ports department said in its performance budget tabled on the floor of the House today.
The vessel would be built at a cost of Rs 2.78 crore and the state government has given an administrative approval for it.

"The tug will be used for patrolling and towing of distressed vessels, and also breakdown of ferry boats (passenger boats which ply in the inland waters)," the report said.
The government also intends to arm the tug with fire- fighting units that can tackle fire in the port area.
"The proposal has been administratively approved by Goa government. The cost of tug is estimated to be Rs 5.73 crore," the report mentioned.
