Goa to continue getting incessant rains till July 1: Met

Goa is expected to witness incessant rains till July 1, as the South West monsoon has been active over the state, a senior Met Department official said here today.
"The South West monsoon which arrived after a fortnight's delay in the state has been very active. Goa has witnessed 17 per cent of excess rainfall (compared to the annual average in this month) ramping up the total seasonal rainfall to 37 inches," V K Mini, Director, Indian Meteorological Observatory said.
She said till now, June 21 has been recorded as the wettest day of the season.
Mini said that more heavy rainfall is expected for the State till July one.
She said the South West monsoon has been active with the conditions favourable for heavy rains.
The observatory has warned fishermen against venturing in the sea for next 24 hours due to unfavourable conditions.
"Winds will be mainly southwesterly with speed of 45-50 kmph temporarily reaching at a speed of 55 kmph in gusts. Sea will be very rough due to the waves," the observatory said in a press statement here.
