Goa tourism dept, panchayats to discuss infra projects in

The Goa tourism department has decided to take into confidence all the grass root level bodies from the beach belt to decide on upgrading the infrastructure required for the tourists ahead of the season.
The chartered flights bringing in foreign tourists will begin arriving in the State from next month marking the beginning of tourism season.
Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar said that he has called for the meeting of all the panchayat members from the coastal talukas coming week to discuss on providing basic infrastructure required for the tourists.
The state will put up the infrastructure under Central government's financial assistance scheme under which Rs 100 crore is earmarked for Goa, he said.
"Goa Tourism iscommitted on developing coastal areas in the state which will boost the arrivals," the minister said adding infrastructure such as providing public conveniencesnamely toilets, changing rooms, locker facilities, adequate parking,beautification, illumination and others will be provided under the scheme.
Ajgaonkar said the meeting will also be attended by members of legislative assembly from the coastal belt, who will discuss in detail about the infrastructure development projects needed to be executed.
