The award, given by Pacific Area Travel Writers Association (PATWA), was presented at a ceremony at the International Tourism Bourse (ITB) in Berlin early this week.
It was presented to Goa Tourism officials by Secretary General of United Nations World Travel Organisation (UNWTO) Taleb Rifai in presence of Sagar Ahluwalia, Secretary General of PATWA.
"This award is not just very prestigious but will also help in recognition of Goa as a leading destination for high-end wedding celebrations and a perfect honeymoon destination for young couples from all over the world," said state Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar here.
Goa is participating in the ongoing 'ITB Berlin 2015' under the banner of India Tourism along with 18 other state tourism departments.
The Goa stall at the event venue in Messedamm has been tastefully designed with focus on culture, cuisine, adventure tourism, eco-tourism and special events.
Some of the other Indian states taking part in the tourism show include Kerala, Telangana, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Tamil Nadu.
