Goa Pradesh Youth Congress President (GPYCC) Valanka Alemao said here today that she has chosen to remain away from Goa to campaign for the Congress in Delhi, in order to avoid being blamed.
"I am facing a worst case scenario. I am tired of being blamed by Congress leaders in Goa for some reason or the other," Valanka Alemao, who was in the race for the South Goa Congress ticket before she lost it to sitting MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, said.
Valanka's father Churchill Alemao, who is a former Goa chief minister, quit Congress recently to join Trinamool Congress party, to fight from the South Goa constituency, after his daughter was denied a Congress ticket.
"I have chosen to campaign in Delhi and I am in constant touch with the high command. I have not betrayed the party," Valanka said.
She questioned party's decision to suspend four Youth Congress office bearers today, who were punished for alleged "anti-party activity".
Congress had expelled them for allegedly working for Churchill Alemao.

"I don't understand why they expelled Youth Congress members. Is it just because they were seen with my father," she questioned.
Meanwhile, the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) has strongly objected to Valanka Alemao campaigning in Delhi.
GPCC president John Fernandes told reporters that the Congress wants her to campaign in Goa.
Responding to GPCC's stand, Valanka said she would like to work in Delhi.
"They want me in Goa. It looks like even my absence is killing them," she said.
