The GOC-in-C of Eastern Command, Lt Gen Praveen Bakshi, today graced the cultural extravaganza of the Hornbill festival at Kisama Heritage Village.
Bakshi during his short speech congratulated the Department of Tourism for organising the festival to showcase the diversity and vibrancy of the Naga culture.
The GOC-in-C said he had come to the Hornbill festival to spread the message of peace and wished that the popular festival was celebrated successfully.
The Army can play an important role in the society for the welfare of the people, said Nagaland Parliamentary Secretary for Art and Culture, E Eshak Konyak and wished that the Army builds strong friendship and solve problems through mutual understanding and bring peace development in the state.
The main attraction of the seventh day at the festival was the 3rd Friendship Motor Cycle Rally, which was flagged off from Dimapur.
The riders took the road through historic Khonoma village and culminated at Kisama in the evening. Altogether 110 Royal Enfield riders from North Eastern states and few others, including a woman rider each from Mizoram and Nagaland participated in the rally.
The aim of the motor rally was to spread peace and brotherhood among the North Eastern states in particular and country in general.
The rally was hosted by Nagaland Motor Riders Association.
The rally has added colour to the Hornbill festival and such events should continue to promote friendship throughout the country, Tourism Secretary Angau I Thou said during the culmination programme of the rally at Kisama.
The festival would conclude on December 10.
