Officials said Lt Gen Bhalla reviewed the situation at 16 Cavalry armoured unit at Samba, where he held an 'open darbar' to hear the soldiers on the incident and their grievances, if any.
The GOC is likely to submit the report to the Army headquarters after his visit to formation in Samba, they said, claiming that after the meeting "normalcy has returned to the unit".
Army authorities have also begun investigation into the the alleged suicide by Sepoy Arun V at the guard room with his service rifle which triggered tension in the unit. A Court of Inquiry (CoI) was ordered yesterday into the incident.
Sources claimed that some officers of unit have been shifted.
"Tempers ran high after the incident of suicide by the jawan yesterday which might have resulted in anger among the jawans resulting in face-off with officers. But it resolved after few hours," a police officer said.
"We have started investigation, seized rifle, some records and conducted post mortem and handed over body back to Army today," he said.
