Commencing journey on August 27 at Bhadrachalam in Khammam district of Andhra Pradesh, over 80 cadets travelled to Parnasala, Bhadrachalam, Kunavaram, Chintur, Pochavaram, Devipatnam, Papi Kondalu and Rajahmundry during the expedition period.
At Rajahmundry, the expedition entered the canal through Dowleshwaram and Kadiam lock gates and sailed in the canal for about 75 kms, prior to reaching the final point at Samalkot.
On the occasion, Col S R Sri Ram, Group Commander, Kakinada said the expedition under the command of 8(A) Naval Unit NCC, Vijayawada covered a distance of 425 kms in its journey.
A medical camp was also conducted at Chintur in Khammam district and a naval doctor along with all the cadets participated and distributed free medicines to patients from the surrounding villages, he said.
The challenging task was taken up by the group to qualify for Most Enterprising Naval Unit (MENU) competition, held by the Director General NCC, New Delhi. The Kakinada group is the largest in the AP directorate and has 13 Army, Navy, Air Force and R&V units under its command.
The expedition was organised under the aegis of AP Directorate.
