Godfrey Phillips Q4 net profit up 17.6% at Rs 55.83 cr

Cigarette maker Godfrey Phillips India today reported an increase of 17.56 per cent in standalone net profit at Rs 55.83 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2017.
The company had reported a net profit of Rs 47.49 crore in January-March quarter a year ago, Godfrey Phillips said in a BSE filing.
Its total income from operations was up 13.31 per cent to Rs 1,349.79 crore during the quarter under review as against Rs 1,191.15 crore for the corresponding period a year ago.
Godfrey Phillips' overall expenses were up 12.90 per cent to Rs 1,266.20 crore in fourth quarter of FY17 as against Rs 1,121.46 crore in the corresponding period of FY16.
Its revenue from cigarettes and tobacco products was up 13.71 per cent to Rs 1,257.85 crore as against Rs 1,106.12 crore, while tea and other retail products were up 19.36 per cent to Rs 86.99 crore as against Rs 72.88 crore.
For the FY17, Godfrey Phillips reported a decline of 20.56 per cent in net profit of Rs 136.35 crore as against Rs 171.66 crore in the previous financial year.

Its total revenue for the fiscal stood at Rs 4,442.81 crore, up 3.35 per cent, as compared to Rs 4,298.76 crore in the previous year.
Meanwhile, in a separate filing, Godfrey Phillips India informed BSE that its board in a meeting held today has recommended dividend of 400 per cent for FY17 which is Rs 8 per equity share of Rs 2 each.
Shares of the company ended 0.92 per cent up at Rs 1,214.15 on BSE.
