Union Minister Vijay Goel today appreciated the Telangana Government's housing scheme for the poor and thanked Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for supporting the Centre's demonetisation drive.
Under the scheme, the TRS Goverment has built double bedroom houses for the poor at Eravelli village in Medak district.
"I met Telangana Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Raoji yesterday, when I came to know about Eravelli village. Then I came here (Eravelli) where 600 houses were constructed for the poor at a low cost.
"I felt very happy. Like Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi is working hard in the country for the welfare of the poor, a similar effort I found here," a State Government release quoted Goel as saying during a visit to the village.
"These 600 houses were built at a low cost of Rs 5, 04,000 (each), in which there is some contribution from the Central and the rest is borne by the State. I understand the State Government is taking this programme forward," the Union Minister of State for Sports said.
The BJP leader also appreciated the TRS Government's support to demonetization drive of the Centre.
"I also want to congratulate KCR Garu for supporting the demonetisation scheme of the PM. The CM and Telangana State have fully supported it. The CM told me a resolution was also passed in the Assembly in this regard."
The Union Minister described the State Government's move to make 81 villages in the State into cashless settlements as a "great step", the release added.
