Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene to clear the last minute hurdle for Rupshikha Borah's appointment as the Chairman and MD of Oil India Ltd.
In a statement, Gogoi said when the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) had recommended Borah's name for the top post of the OIL, the last minute glitch was tantamount to denial of justice.
He said after being found qualified and competent for the top post by the appropriate authority, the last minute delay did not go down well.
"It will be an injustice to the women fraternity in particular and Assam as a whole if Rupshikha Borah is finally denied the unique feat to be the first woman to hold the CMD's post in the oil and gas exploration industry," Gogoi said.
