Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "silence" on External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje's close ties with tainted former IPL boss Lalit Modi.
In a statement here, the Chief Minister said "In spite of Sushma Swaraj and Vasundhara Raje's admission about their involvement with Lalit Modi, Prime Minister preferred to remain silent, which raised questions on his sincerity and commitment."
Gogoi further said the BJP backtracked from its position after making tall promises to fight corruption and take adequate steps to bring back black money stashed abroad after coming to power.
"Instead, the BJP-led government at the Centre stood solidly to shield Sushma Swaraj and Vasundhara Raje who helped a fugitive and money launderer," Gogoi asserted.
