Gogoi inaugurates Curtin Univ Edu and Research centre in Assam

In an attempt to improve higher education in the state, particularly in areas of technical education and research, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today inaugurated a Centre for Advancement in Education and Research of Curtin University of Australia here.
Speaking on the occasion, Gogoi said the Centre would bring about a paradigm shift in the higher education sector by undertaking studies in the areas of gap analysis, designing curriculum relevant to present day requirement and the latest trends of research studies.
Terming his government's collaborative agreement with Curtin University as a milestone in the field of education, Gogoi said the purpose of the agreement was to raise the standard of research and redirect it to the development of the state.

He also stressed on the need for expanding the collaborative partnership to incorporate sectors such as agriculture and natural resources to lend credence to the state government's bid to sustainable development.
Under the partnership, Curtin University would work along with the state in developing and implementing world class Washington Accord accreditated programme to improve the level of technology, education and research in Assam.
State Education Minister Sarat Barkotoky said the partnership was entered into to augment research capacity and use it as a catalyst to solve fundamental problems in the state.
