Speaking on the occasion at the city's Sarusajai Sports Complex, Gogoi said the state Government had been organising educational trips under the Gyanjyoti Scheme for the last 10 years to bring about all round development of students.
The trip was aimed at giving the much-needed exposure to the students, particularly from rural areas, to stimulate knowledge sharing and out-of-the-box thinking aptitude, the chief minister said.
Around 1,300 students from 14 districts participated in this year's educational tour under the Gyanjyoti Scheme, an initiative of the Chief Minister conceived and designed as an inspirational trip for the students of rural areas to help them plan their career, take informed decisions and nurture a competitive spirit among them.
Gogoi also informed that the government is planning to organise the Gyanjyoti Scheme trips twice in a year to benefit more students under the scheme.
Mentioning that special thrust was given under the Scheme for the development of the students of the char (riverine) areas through exposure trips, he said plans are afoot to launch mobile libraries in the char and interior areas besides augmenting the capacity of the existing libraries.
Under the Gyanjyoti scheme, students are taken to the state's frontline educational institutions, cultural and religious places and other sites with edutainment value.
