Gogoi met Rahman's mother Rumena Rahman, his wife Afruza Rahman, daughter Azara Rahman and other members of the family and expressed his condolences, an official statement said.
Gogoi told the family members that investigations were on and the persons involved in the crime would be brought to book.
Assam Minister for Environment and Forests Rakibul Hussain was also present during the meeting which took place in a hotel owned by the slain tea planter's family.
Rahman, owner of the Mahalaxmi Tea Estate, was gunned down and his security guard seriously injured by suspected NDFB anti-talk faction insurgents at Nagda on the Assam- Arunachal Pradesh border as he was driving towards Baihata Chariali.
