Gogoi, who is closely monitoring the situation ever since disturbances broke out along the inter-state boundary, directed Deputy Commissioner Julie Sonowal to ensure regular supply of relief materials to people living in relief camps and to rehabilitate the affected at the earliest.
Gogoi also asked the administration not to let its guard down and keep a close watch on the situation to thwart the evil machinations of some forces at work, an official spokesman said.
Meanwhile, 29 additional fixed security pickets have been set up in the B Sector of Assam-Nagaland boundary to provide security to people living there.
The pickets are being manned by four companies of CRPF and five companies of SSB personnel with three additional companies of Assam Police Battalions also stationed there. Additional barracks for the security forces will be set up by the Golaghat Superintendent of Police with the help of Forest Department.
Of the 14 relief camps opened by the district administration, three have been closed down.
Altogether 9,837 displaced persons of 16 villages were living in relief camps as on August 15 last.
