Gohain to meet NF officials

Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain will hold a review meeting with officials on Tuesday to take stock of the freight and parcel traffic scenario in the region, NF Railway said today.
"The meeting will work out ways and means of achieving tangible results in the field of further improvement of freight movement in Assam and the North East with special emphasis on parcel movement from the region," NF Railway Chief spokesperson said in a statement.
With a number of local items like bamboo, beetle nut, dry fish and tea having very good market outside the region, strengthening of parcel traffic would fuel rapid economic growth of the region, he added.

"Apart from discussing the freight traffic scenario, the meeting is also likely to discuss the status of the ongoing railway projects in the region and steps for timely completion of the projects," the spokesperson said.
