The customs officials intercepted two passengers who arrived at the airport by a Singapore Airlines flight last night and seized gold biscuits weighing 1.5 kg, worth about Rs 45 lakh from them, which they were allegedly trying to smuggle, Customs Assistant Commissioner R Kalyan told PTI today.
The two were trying to smuggle the yellow metal by concealing it in their rectum, he said.
One of the passengers who was in possession of 800 gms of gold was arrested, while the other one was let off, Kalyan said, adding that further investigation in the matter is on.
