Gold prices rose by Rs 52 to Rs 38,055 per 10 gram in futures trade on Thursday as speculators widened their bets on spot demand.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold contracts for December delivery traded higher by Rs 52, or 0.14 per cent, at Rs 38,055 per 10 gram in 1,330 lots.
Gold for delivery in February next year also edged up by Rs 53, or 0.14 per cent, at Rs 38,300 per 10 gram in 76 lots.
Analysts said the rise in gold prices was mostly on fresh positions built by participants.
Globally, gold price was quoting almost flat at USD 1,495.60 an ounce in New York.
