Yadav was caught copying during the Local and Special Law exam, held on June 17 at the academy and was asked to leave the examination hall, Deputy Director, Police Training Academy Niranjan Vayangankar said today.
If the 24-year-old Olympian had cleared the internal written exams, he would have been recruited as Deputy Superintendent in Thane's rural region, he said.
Yadav was required to take a total of 13 papers, but in the fourth paper he was caught cheating and hence was not allowed take the remaining exams, Director Police Training Academy Naval Bajaj said.
After completing the due paperwork, Yadav joined the Police Training Academy's rigorous two-year training programme last year at Nashik, nearly 170 km from here.

Asked about the fate of Yadav in this regard, Bajaj refused to comment stating that it is an internal matter of the police department.
Meanwhile, Yadav refused to comment on the issue, citing that he is busy in a meeting.
