Silver also dropped below the key important Rs 43,000 per kg mark due to consistent unwinding from speculators coupled with subdued industrial demand.
Gold has lost nearly Rs 700, or 2.53 per cent in last six trading sessions as most local buyers sidelined on expectations of further fall in prices in the wave of ongoing uncertainty in global markets, a bullion trader said.
Standard gold (99.5 purity) moved down by Rs 25 to finish at Rs 27,660 per 10 grams compared to last Saturday's close Rs 27,685.
Silver (.999 fineness) declined by Rs 65 to conclude at Rs 42,975 per kg against Rs 43,040 last weekend.
On the global front, shiny-metal remained under intense selling and plummeted to more than two-months low on investors' caution as growing optimism over the health of the US economy raised fears of an early hike in benchmark rates.
Spot gold slipped to USD 1,277.00 an ounce in early European trade.
