Gold seized at Karipur airport

Gold bars, worth Rs 56 lakh and weighing two kg, were today seized at nearby Karipur international airport and one person has been taken into custody in this connection, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officials said.
During a check, a team of officials led by the DRI Deputy Director, seized a packet containing two gold bars, weighing one kg each, from a man, a cleaning staff member at the airport who tried to take it outside the airport, they said. The seizure was made shortly after a Doha-Calicut Qatar Airways flight (QR-538) landed at the airport at 8.30 am, DRI officials said.
