The ornaments were found hidden in the boot, they said, adding the three occupants could not produce documents to substantiate their claim that they were in jewellery business.
The seized ornaments were handed over to Returning Officer M Sabathy, they said.
Sabapathy said the three, all from Bangalore, assured him that they would produce all documents tomorrow, to which he told them that these would be scrutinised to ascertain if they had paid income tax. The gold would then be handed over to the department.
