Gold worth Rs 25.46 lakh seized; woman passenger held

A Mumbai-based woman was today arrested at Sardar Patel International Airport here for allegedly trying to smuggle in gold bars worth Rs 25.46 lakh, a Customs official said.
The passenger, identified as Shabana Amin Sheikh, who was coming to Ahmedabad from Dubai (via Doha) by Qatar Airways Flight (QR-534), had concealed the gold bars collectively weighing 932.88 grams, in her undergarments, he said.
The officials seized the gold worth Rs 25.46 lakh and Sheikh was arrested and later produced before the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate and was sent to judicial custody at Sabarmati Jail in the city.
