The Air Intelligence unit of Customs at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) here seized smuggled gold worth Rs 8.20 lakh from a passenger, officials said Saturday.
Officers of the Air Intelligence Unit, BPIA intercepted one passenger hailing from Chennai who arrived from Kuala Lumpur on Friday night, they said.
The personal search of the passenger led to recovery of two oval shaped capsules wrapped with black adhesive tape containing gold of foreign origin in powder form concealed in the rectum, an official said adding that gold weighed 254.47 gm and was worth Rs 8.20 lakh.
